SlipStream Launches New Version 6.0.30
![]()
We at SlipStream are proud to announce the launch of version 6.0.30 of SlipStream SP, developed as a response to customer feedback and our constant enthusiasm for improving our service to you.
Scalability Improvements
One of the key improvements in 6.0.30 is the server's scalability, which increases the maximum number of concurrent users per server. Most of our customers have a high number of subscribers and in order to deliver the proper service at peak times of the day, it's necessary to have several servers to sufficiently handle requests. That is the reason why we have made an extra effort to bring you this new release.
As a result, the SlipStream SP server has been tested on latest generation hardware with great results, reaching up to 1900 concurrent sessions, depending on your configuration!
New Features in 6.0.30
In our continuing endeavor to implement customer suggestions, this latest version contains the following new features:
- Support for Firefox® 3
- A feature to allow users to select their server from a pre-populated list
- Toolbar enhancements, as well as support for Firefox®
- Windows® XP SP3 support
- Macintosh® client GUI improvements
- Mac® OSX Leopard support
- Allowing NOW!ImagingTM to be disabled when the version of IE is less than 6

SlipStream Plus NOW!ImagingTM: Great Solution for Broadband ISPs
The improvement of the end-user experience is not limited to dial-up; it can also be extended to broadband users (ADSL and WiMax, for example) with real speeds up to 1Mb/s. Usually, broadband campaigns promote high speed Internet access to the end user, with promises of speeds beyond 7Mb/s. In reality, with latency, network congestion and poor connection media, these speeds can not be reached and the end user will never see the ideal speed that was offered. SlipStream and NOW!Imaging can help to:
- Approach the ideal speed that was offered
- Reduce your data transfer needs
- Allow more Internet users without any expensive upgrade in the infrastructure of the network
In addition, it is well known that broadband users spend more time surfing than dial-up users. With this in mind, we have also developed the SlipStream Toolbar, which can be used as a marketing tool by the ISP, promoting their new products and services. It can be also used to advertise other partners and services (potentially earning extra income for the ISP). The SlipStream Toolbar integrates into the user's web browser toolbar (both IE and Firefox), and can provide links, icons, and search options, as well as an extra interface for the SlipStream client.
