Independent Testing - appLabs Technologies
April 2006
appLabs Technologies, an international third party independent product/solution testing and certification organization, was commissioned to compare the Web browsing acceleration performance of SlipStream SP5.0 with NOW!Imaging over dial up Internet access to that of standard Web browsing over non-accelerated dial up Internet access. The complete test engagement was conducted at appLabs's testing facilities in Lindon, Utah., USA from April 11th 2006 to April 14th 2006.
The results indicate that for dial up Internet access, SlipStream SP5.0 with NOW!Imaging significantly improved the time to deliver Web pages over the Internet when compared to non-accelerated browsing:
- Maximum acceleration gain up to 19.69x (faster)
- Average acceleration gain of 5.45x (faster)
Testing Methodology
appLabs used an automated, state of the art tool for performance testing. Ten identical computers (five accelerated with SlipStream SP5.0 with NOW!Imaging and five non-accelerated) were set up and all the tests ran simultaneously for a period of 48 hours. All test machines accessed the same set of Web sites using a common Web page list established to simulate the behavior of a typical end user. The Web page delivery times collected were measured from the beginning of each Web page download through to the point where a complete, usable Web page had been delivered to the screen.
After running the tests for 24 hours, the five computers which had been running SlipStream SP5.0 with NOW!Imaging™ were swapped with the five test machines that were used in non-accelerated Internet access, and vice versa.
