New SlipStream Acceleration Engine Rolls Out To Wireless Carriers
Solution includes broad support for mobile devices, ability to address security concerns and features tailored to mobile consumers and workers
Sydney, Australia (CeBIT) - May 24, 2005 - SlipStream Data Inc. today announced the availability of its core acceleration technology, the SlipStream Acceleration Engine 4.0, in a solution targeted to wireless carriers. The SlipStream Acceleration Engine is the core technology behind SlipStream SP, the defacto standard in web and email acceleration, already deployed by more than 2000 service providers in 40 countries.
The SlipStream Acceleration Engine offers users a substantial performance boost over any network with bandwidth constraints, including dialup, wireless/WiFi (CDMA, GPRS, 1X, etc.), satellite or broadband lite. The software uses patented technology to increase transmission speeds by up to 7 times and decrease bandwidth requirements by up to 98 percent.
The SlipStream Acceleration Engine works at the application level instead of the network level and, therefore, can use compression and network optimization techniques tailored to specific applications or protocols. Because of this flexibility, SlipStream can extend and optimize the functionality of the Engine to create complete solutions for specific markets. While the industry-leading SlipStream SP meets the needs of ISPs (Internet Service Providers), SlipStream can now better target other technology partners - including wireless application service providers, telecommunications companies, infrastructure providers, handset manufacturers and enterprises - to embed the SlipStream Acceleration Engine in their hardware or software solutions.
