TELUS Extends Accelerated Dial-Up Service By Offering SlipStream Technology to Quebec Market
New TELUS Turbo GT service gives customers in Quebec fast Internet access at an affordable price
Waterloo, Ontario - June 18, 2004 - SlipStream Data Inc. announced that TELUS Quebec has successfully launched its Turbo GT service using the company's web and email acceleration technology. The newly-launched TELUS Turbo GT service will dramatically improve the speed of Internet service for GlobeTrotter subscribers throughout Quebec. In April, TELUS launched the new Fast Dial-up service, which incorporates SlipStream technology, to customers in Western Canada.
"TELUS chose our acceleration software because it met their unique requirements, including supporting both Canada's official languages as well as the Windows and Macintosh computing environments," said Ron Neumann, president of SlipStream Data Inc. "Our software gives TELUS dial-up users throughout Canada a chance to experience a substantial speed increase in web browsing and email access without having to pay a premium price. This ultimately means an improvement in overall customer satisfaction and retention for TELUS."
Adding TELUS Turbo GT to existing GlobeTrotter dial-up services provides customers with up to five times faster web browsing and improved email capabilities. Turbo GT is available to TELUS' GlobeTrotter subscribers on an ŕ la carte basis for $1.95 per month for consumers or $2.50 per month for businesses, as well as in a bundle at $1.95 per month. Complete details on the service are available at www.globetrotter.net/turbogt.
"Our customers in Quebec will greatly benefit from the performance improvements TELUS Turbo GT has to offer," said André Gagnon, vice president, strategic planning and consumer marketing at TELUS. "The new service will provide dial-up customers with unprecedented speed for only a couple dollars extra a month. The addition of this service will give our customers more value, choice and flexibility."
SlipStream is the defacto standard in the accelerated dial-up market, with over 800 ISP Partners worldwide. The company's sophisticated web and email acceleration technologies compress, optimize and streamline web content, providing a dramatic improvement in access speeds over traditional dial-up and wireless networks. This technology gives ISPs a fast and flexible way of rolling out additional value-added services that can be fully branded. It also enables ISPs to reduce subscriber churn by offering users a more fulfilling online experience.
