VeriTest Confirms SlipStream Data's Superior Performance In Independent Testing

SlipStream Offers Fastest Web Accelerator Product on the Market

WATERLOO, Ontario, December 9, 2003 - SlipStream Data Inc. today announced that its Web Accelerator product beat out the competition in Internet BenchMark testing conducted by VeriTest. SlipStream's Dial Accelerator product compresses, optimizes and streamlines web content after it leaves the server, providing a dramatic improvement in web-surfing speed.

The tests were commissioned by SlipStream and conducted by independent testing solutions provider VeriTest. The tests ran a comparative analysis between SlipStream's Dial Accelerator product and Propel's Web Accelerator product, to determine which product was faster at downloading and streaming data over the Internet. The test results determined that SlipStream's Dial Accelerator accessed first web pages more than 33 percent faster than Propel. SlipStream also improved average download times by almost 10 percent over Propel, a significant difference given that the SlipStream Web and Email Accelerator required only 6 MB of hard disk space, whereas the Propel solution exceeded 160 MB. The full report is available from the SlipStream web site.

"Speed and compression are the reason we exist at SlipStream," said Ron Neumann, president of SlipStream. "These independent tests prove that SlipStream continues to lead with the fastest Web Acceleration product available on the market. This report is also a proof-point to why we've signed-up more than 500 ISPs worldwide in the past year. We want our technology to become the standard for compression, much like WinZip for file compression."

Other report findings:

  • SlipStream improved download times by up to a factor of five

  • SlipStream improved web page download times by an average of more than two

  • SlipStream compressed text components of web pages by an average of 5.9 times

  • SlipStream compressed email messages and attachments more than 4.5 times for Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express

  • SlipStream blocked most pop-ups

SlipStream's dial accelerator technologies compress, optimize and streamline web content after it leaves the server, dramatically improving web-surfing and email access speed. These technologies provide their ISP partners with an alternative product offering for dial-up or wireless users who either don't have access to high-speed cable or DSL services, or don't want to pay the higher prices charged for broadband services. Customers surfing the net with these technologies find that web pages download up to five times faster than traditional services.

It is estimated that fewer than one half of Internet subscribers in North America access the Internet over high-speed broadband networks. In the next five years, while broadband access will increase, it is projected that more than 30 million people will continue to rely on dialup for Internet access.
