More than One Million Internet Users Worldwide to Benefit from SlipStream Data's Installed Capacity

SlipStream's Web and Email Accelerator Technologies Give Dial-up Users Faster Browsing and Downloading Capabilities

WATERLOO, Ontario, October 1, 2003 - SlipStream Data Inc. today announced that with the signing of more than 300 ISPs over the past eight months, it now has an installed capacity of more than one million Internet users worldwide. The phenomenal success of SlipStream's web and email accelerator software highlights the demand dial-up users have for faster download times when accessing email and browsing the Internet.

"Our web and email accelerator software has captured the lion's share of the ISP market because it gives dial-up users an opportunity to experience broadband-like capabilities," said Ron Neumann, President of SlipStream. "We give ISPs a chance to diversify and differentiate their dial-up service offering. We also give ISPs the opportunity to increase user satisfaction and build long-term customer loyalty by offering a custom branded solution for their clients."

SlipStream can also boast having the most paid end users - more than 300,000 - with the number increasing daily. "There is a new ISP launching almost every day," said Neumann. "One of our recent customers to launch is TDS Telecom, part of TDS , Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (Amex: TDS), a Fortune 500 company. We are excited about this relationship, because it demonstrates how technology can alleviate the frustration of dial-up users."

"Demand is strong and it is being readily adopted nationwide," stated Andrew Buchert, Manager of Product Management for TDS Internet Services. "Our customers are delighted to have this offering. It provides a real alternative to their existing dial-up connection, and provides them with real time savings."

SlipStream's web accelerator technologies compress, optimize and streamline web content after it leaves the server, providing a dramatic improvement in web-surfing speed. This is important for dial-up users who either don't have access to high-speed cable or DSL services, or don't want to pay the higher prices charged for broadband services. Customers surfing the net with these technologies will find that web pages download up to five times faster than traditional dialup.

The following features make SlipStream's product offering unique to the market:

  • The fastest web accelerator in the market today.

  • Acceleration of email for Outlook, Outlook Express and others.

  • Seamless email integration. Users activate their usual email client and SlipStream Email Acceleration begins automatically.

  • A Mac OS-X client for web browsing.

  • A pop-up blocker that gives users the option of blocking unwanted advertisement pop-ups.

  • For ISPs, enhanced reporting features in the server information center to help track usage.

It is estimated that fewer than one half of Internet subscribers in the United States access the Internet over high-speed broadband networks. In the next five years, while broadband access is increasing, it is projected that more than 30 million people will still rely on dial-up for Internet access.
