SlipStream Data Releases Version 3.0
No more waiting for web or email downloads over dialup
WATERLOO, Ontario, April 24, 2003 - SlipStream Data Inc. today announced Version 3 of its Internet acceleration software. The new version provides compression for email, as well as tighter integration with both Microsoft Explorer and Netscape web browsers.
With Version 3, SlipStream has added the following features:
Acceleration of email for Outlook, Outlook Express and others.
Seamless email integration. Users activate their usual email client and SlipStream Email Acceleration begins automatically.
A Mac OS-X client for web browsing.
For ISPs, enhanced reporting features have been added to the new server information center to help track usage.
Additional speed enhancements, which will benefit all web-browsing users.
Customers of IKANO are already using this new version of SlipStream Email Acceleration. "Our customers are already responding in a positive way to this easy-to-use technology," says Henry Smith, CEO of IKANO. "Many of our customers don't have a high-speed connection but now with email acceleration, SlipStream brings them closer to that high-speed experience."
"Dial-up access accounts for more than one half of Internet subscribers, and for these people, the pain of waiting for email to download or send is real. With version 3.0 we are speeding access to email messages, in addition to our traditional acceleration for Internet browsing," says Ron Neumann, President of SlipStream. "Faster download times mean business people will spend less time on costly hotel room lines catching up with the office, and home users will be able to free up their phone lines. The time and cost savings are significant."
In addition to the email acceleration functionality, SlipStream has added a Mac OS-X client that allows Macintosh users to join the accelerated web- browsing revolution. The company has also significantly improved web browsing speed as it continues to provide the fastest web-browsing experience available.
It is estimated that fewer than one half of Internet subscribers in the United States access the Internet over high-speed broadband networks. In the next five years, while broadband access is increasing, it is projected that more than 30 million people will still rely on dial-up for Internet access.
This version is available for testing immediately and will be generally available in early May of 2003.
