Senior Software Developer/Researcher - Video Compression

Our core technology, the SlipStream Acceleration & Optimization Engine, is built on advancements in information theory and network architecture research. In use by more than 2,200 service providers in over 50 countries, the Engine uses patented acceleration, lossless data compression and network optimization technology to increase transmission speeds by up to 7 times, decrease bandwidth requirements by up to 98%, and deliver a more consistent quality of service. Our compression technology has recently been adapted to accelerate the BlackBerry Browser.
Currently, we are expanding our research and development team in multimedia compression and seeking qualified applicants to join the team.
SlipStream is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join a high calibre, fast-paced team. This position will provide you with an excellent opportunity to work with leading edge video codecs, integrating them into multiple facets of the overall BlackBerry experience.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum Masters Degree in EE, ECE, CS, Math or equivalent (PhD preferred)
- Strong knowledge of information theory, Huffman coding and arithmetic coding
- Extensive experience with H.261/3, MPEG-1/2/4 and H.264/AVC video compression standards and image/video transcoding
- Strong knowledge of image/video processing fundamentals such as scalar/vector quantization, motion compensation, pre- and post-processing
- Minimum 5 years experience in C++ and C
- Experience with designing algorithms for a mobile device is an asset
