Software Developer - Mobile Browser Developer

Our core technology, the SlipStream Acceleration & Optimization Engine, is built on advancements in information theory and network architecture research. In use by more than 2,200 service providers in over 50 countries, the Engine uses patented acceleration, lossless data compression and network optimization technology to increase transmission speeds by up to 7 times, decrease bandwidth requirements by up to 98%, and deliver a more consistent quality of service. Our compression technology has recently been adapted to accelerate the BlackBerry Browser.

Working with the BlackBerry Browser development team, the successful candidate will be involved in the design, development and enhancement of the BlackBerry Browser. This exciting and challenging position involves development of innovative, mobile browsing solutions of all types of Web content on constrained, mobile devices. Specific responsibilities cover a wide range of Browser-related areas, focused mainly on the device-side Browser, but also including server-side development of the BlackBerry Browsing proxy server. Responsibilities include software design, development, unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of software components. The successful candidate will also be involved with the production of design documentation and specifications and ongoing product support and maintenance.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Intimate understanding of standard networking protocols: IP, UDP, TCP, HTTP
  • Intimate understanding of current Web standards: HTML, XML, CSS, ECMAScript
  • Expert C/C++ programming skills; code will target all of Windows, Linux and BlackBerry embedded platforms
  • Excellent Java (J2EE, J2ME, RIM Java SDK) programming skills; code will target all of Windows, Linux and BlackBerry embedded platforms
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Computer Engineering preferred; minimum average of 75%
